Applying for Credit and Summer Funding
1. Apply to your Study Abroad Program
- Apply for admission directly to your study abroad program or university by their deadline or January 29 (whichever is first). When applying for funding, you will be required to acknowledge that you have applied to your program, so do not forget this step.
- Do not wait for an admission decision to complete the additional steps below.
2. Request Course Approval through the OIE
Opens December 15, closes January 29
- Review the list of suggested programs and choose the program you'd like to apply to
- Request Course Approval
- If the program you are applying to does not appear on the list of suggested programs, you must apply to the generic "Summer Study Abroad Program"
- Complete the required electronic documents within the application portal
- Download the Summer Course Approval Form from the OIE portal and complete the required information
- Obtain course syllabi (for submission to OIE; see below)
- To obtain faculty signatures for concentration, secondary, and language courses, email the form and course syllabi to the relevant department advisor. Before signing, the advisor may request to meet with you to discuss your course(s) and study abroad program
- Upload the completed form (including syllabi and, where relevant, faculty signatures) to the OIE portal (see: Upload Complete Summer Course Approval Form & Syllabi). Complete and accurate applications must be submitted by January 29 at 11:59pm ET. No extensions will be granted.
Need to Know Information
- To apply for Harvard funding, you must complete the above steps and the Application for Summer Funding form within the OIE portal by January 29 - No exceptions, No extensions.
- You may submit course approval requests for a maximum of two programs. Your first-choice program will be considered for funding. If you are awarded funding, you cannot transfer it from one program to another.
- Late/Incomplete applications will not be accepted. No Exceptions. No Extensions.
