The Consortium for Advanced Studies Abroad program in Barcelona, Spain (CASA Barcelona) offers students with a high-level of Spanish language proficiency the opportunity to enroll directly in regular university courses alongside enrolled Spanish students at four leading universities: Universitat de Barcelona, the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and the Universitat Politècnica de Cataluña. Additionally, you may enroll into 1-2 core and content courses, offered to support, guide, and enhance your coursework at the Spanish universities, taught at the CASA-Barcelona center.

Prerequisites include 5 semesters of College-level Spanish or equivalent.

Application Information

  • Students may only apply to one CASA program. Students admitted to a CASA program are expected to accept the offer and withdraw any other study abroad applications.
  • A B2 language level guarantees admission to CASA Barcelona until the program reaches enrollment capacity.
  • If you are not a native or heritage speaker, please be prepared to upload proof of B2 (advanced) Spanish language level or higher to the application platform (an email from a faculty member attesting to your B2 level is sufficient).  
  • Students who have with proficient oral and written Catalan skills may have the option to pursue content courses in Catalan.
