The Consortium for Advanced Studies Abroad program in Granada, Spain (CASA Granada) offers the opportunity for students at all levels of Spanish language proficiency to expand their horizons through a combination of rigorous academic studies, traditional immersion programming, and innovative experiential activities. Your language level determines which track you will enroll in: Intensive Spanish Language studies (speak with Nicole Garcia prior to applying); Spanish Language and Culture; Hispanic Studies; University Studies

Based at the University of Granada, CASA Granada students may directly enroll in regular courses in a variety of disciplines. Additionally, CASA Granada students can take advantage of STEM research placements at the University and at other local organizations. 

Application Information

  • Students may only apply to one CASA program. Students admitted to a CASA program are expected to accept the offer and withdraw any other study abroad applications.
  • Note that a B2 language level guarantees admission to CASA-Cuba until the program reaches enrollment capacity.
  • CASA Granada: Intensive Spanish Language Program (CILE) does not require a B2 level; however, participation in this program track does require Spanish department approval.
  • Please be prepared to submit the following materials :

    • proof of B2 (advanced) Spanish language level or higher (an email from a faculty member attesting to your B2 level is sufficient), unless you are a native or heritage speaker
    • a copy of your student record (unofficial transcript)
    • statement of purpose
