DIS Summer

DIS Study Abroad in Scandinavia offers summer courses in a variety of academic disciplines in Copenhagen, Denmark and Stockholm, Sweden. DIS Summer consists of three 3-week summer sessions. Students take one course per session. Harvard students will earn 4-credits for two courses taken across two sessions (2-for-1), or 8-credits for three courses taken across all three sessions (3-for-2), as DIS summer courses are only 3 weeks long and Harvard requires a 4-week minimum course length in order to be transfer-credit eligible. One session alone is not eligible for transfer credit.

DIS allows students to choose courses all in the same location, or in different locations (e.g., Stockholm for Session 1 and Copenhagen for Sessions 2 and 3). However, students attending DIS Summer with Harvard funding must take all of their courses in the same city.

To minimize confusion regarding which courses are eligible for transfer credit (pending departmental approval), in consultation with the Office of Undergraduate Education, the OIE has curated a list of courses that have been pre-approved for elective credit. If you wish to have these courses count toward your concentration or secondary field you must have the appropriate department adviser review the courses separately. If your concentration/secondary field department approves one course as fulfilling a concentration/secondary requirement, then your other course(s) must come from the list below.
