#### Applying for study abroad is a two-step process *for each program* you apply to.

## 1. Apply for Admission

- Apply directly to your study abroad program(s) or university(ies) for admission according to the guidance and deadlines on their website. Programs often admit on a rolling basis and popular programs can fill fast; therefore, you should apply early.
- Most programs’ applications include a study abroad or home school nomination form to be completed by the OIE. Please direct forms to <oie@fas.harvard.edu>. If you have to provide the name and email of a specific study abroad advisor, refer to our [staff page](https://oie.fas.harvard.edu/about#contact-us).
- Do not wait to hear from the program regarding your admission to complete the internal Harvard process (outlined below).

## 2. Apply for Academic Credit

Complete all forms in the OIE portal by October 1 for spring semester study abroad and March 1 for fall semester study abroad.

To initiate the process, click on the "Request Course Approval" link associated with the program you have selected from the [Approved List](/approved-programs "Approved Semester Programs").

## Exceptions

- If you are applying to Oxford for the academic year, please contact <oie@fas.harvard.edu> before March 1 to request an application link.
- To petition a program not on our [approved programs list](https://oie.fas.harvard.edu/approved-programs), follow the steps to [Petition for Program Approval](https://oie.fas.harvard.edu/term-time-petition-program-approval).

## Harvard Deadlines
