###    Know Before You Apply  expand\_more  

 

- You may earn up to 8-credits per summer.
- Programs must be at least 4 weeks long to be eligible for academic credit, and at least 6 weeks long to be eligible for Harvard summer funding (programs lasting 8 or more weeks, where such options exist, will be given priority consideration for funding).
- You may earn credit toward your concentration, secondary field, language citation, language requirement, Distribution, or electives.
- Courses taken abroad for transfer credit cannot be counted towards General Education requirements. For more information, please see the [Harvard College Handbook for Students](https://handbook.fas.harvard.edu/book/program-general-education-policies#5).
- Rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who are in good standing are eligible for summer study abroad.
- Everyone can study abroad with careful planning, regardless of your concentration, student organization affiliation, athletic participation, generational or socio-economic status.
- International students may not earn transfer credit towards the Harvard degree from study in their home country (exceptions may be possible for students who have not spent a substantial amount of time in their home country since childhood).
- All programs must be able to issue (upon your completion of the program) a transcript showing courses, grades, and credits/hours earned.
- It is possible to study abroad for both a summer and a semester!
