London School of Economics - Summer Program

The London School of Economics (LSE) Summer Program offers students the opportunity to enroll in courses across disciplines, including data science, economics, public policy, international relations, etc. At LSE, students will earn 4-credits for two courses taken across two modules (2-for-1), or 8-credits for three courses taken across all three modules (3-for-2), as courses in the LSE Summer Program are only 3 weeks long and Harvard requires a 4-week minimum course length in order to be transfer-credit eligible. Students must successfully complete all course assessments and sit final exams, thereby receiving letter grades in their LSE courses; courses marked as "Attended" or "Registered" are not eligible for transfer credit.

When applying to the LSE Summer School, you will be prompted to enter an "Institution Code" for Harvard. Click here to obtain the code and further instructions on using it

To minimize confusion regarding which courses are eligible for transfer credit (pending departmental approval), in consultation with the Office of Undergraduate Education, the OIE has curated a list of courses that have been pre-approved for elective credit. If you wish to have these courses count toward your concentration or secondary field you must have the appropriate department adviser review the courses separately. If your concentration/secondary field department approves one course as fulfilling a concentration/secondary requirement, then your other course(s) must come from the list below.

Approved Courses

Consult with the OIE regarding courses that do not appear below. Please note that in order to receive credit for courses, you must complete all course assessments.

Most courses in Accounting, Business, and Mangement are not approved for transfer credit.
