# (Germany, Berlin) IES: Urban Studies and Social Sciences ![German flag](/sites/g/files/omnuum9021/files/styles/hwp_1_1__360x360_scale/public/2025-12/germany_flag.jpg?itok=Cwpn1uHd) This program uses Berlin as a case study to examine issues relevant to major cities today. Through comparative and interdisciplinary courses, you'll study topics such as cultural identity, popular culture, and urban development, to better understand the modern city, its politics, and culture. Explore the city's architecture as you learn about urban development and sustainable mobility, discuss concepts of urban governance, or explore Jewish life and culture in the city.
