Consortium for Advanced Studies Abroad - Santiago (CASA-Santiago)

Study abroad on a Harvard-affiliated program that enrolls you directly in regular university courses at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, the Universidad de Chile, and the Universidad Diego Portales along with regularly enrolled Chilean university students. Additionally, students on the CASA-Santiago program will also enroll in the CASA-Santiago Proseminar, taught by local university faculty and other field experts, to bring Chilean culture, government, history and current events to you through small seminars, activities and field trips. The Consortium for Advanced Studies Abroad - Santiago (CASA Santiago) program, administered by Harvard's Office of International Education and the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies (DRCLAS), allows undergraduate students from Consortium schools (Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, Northwestern University, Trinity College Dublin, the University of Melbourne, the University of Pennsylvania, and Vanderbilt University) with advanced Spanish language proficiency to study alongside Chilean and other international students, while also engaging in optional internship or volunteer experiences. Students who study in the spring semester may stay for a summer internship program as well.

Through participating in the CASA-Santiago program, you will have the opportunity to improve your fluency in Spanish, while simultaneously learning the many chilenismos that exist. The program is delivered in Spanish, therefore students must have taken at least five semesters of college level Spanish, or equivalent.
